Memorial Day at Niagara Falls!

The title might say it all but, yes, I just spent four glorious days in Niagara Falls with my second family! The six of us stayed on the Canadian side of the falls and enjoyed (among many things), fantastic sushi, beautiful views, and many, many, many, (many), laughs.

The falls were absolutely captivating - we could have stood there and watched the water fall over the sides for hours, it was just so peaceful!

Despite how hypnotic the water was, the area was very touristy. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but I don't think I was expecting it. Nonetheless, it was tiny in comparison to the bounty of natural beauty the falls gave. The six of us went on the Canadian-side boat tour, right up into the mist of the horseshoe falls. It was a bit wet for sure, but definitely worth it!

I also wasn't expecting to capture such a bountiful number of photos. Obviously, you visit Niagara Falls to see the falls themselves, but there are so many beautiful sights to be seen in the area around. We didn't explore them ourselves, but we drove by a section of hiking trails that went along the river.

What we did do, though, was visit a Butterfly Conservatory and Flower Garden. Those were two incredible experiences that I wouldn't trade for the world - not just as a photographer, but also as a tourist to the area.

There's nothing wrong with going to the beach for Memorial Day. I love seeing the ocean and the warmth of the sun, but it was really interesting to leave the country for an experience about these. Our time spent in Canada was very enjoyable - everyone was kind and pretty much everything went according to plan (and when they didn't, we practiced reckless optimism until we were back on track again.)

If you'd like to see more photos that I took, check out the gallery below, and check out my portfolio tomorrow for some photo updates! Let me know what you thought, and Happy Memorial Day!
